USA CYCLING HIRES THREE MORE REGIONAL COORDINATORS

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (Jan. 5, 2000) - USA Cycling has brought on staff regional coordinators for the Western, Northwestern and Mid-Atlantic regions, the organization announced Wednesday.

Jan Luke Hamasaki, Gino Lisiecki and Judy Miller, all of who have been associated with the U.S. Cycling Federation (USCF) as district representatives, came on board as regional coordinators on Jan. 1.

Regional coordinators act as liaisons between members in their regions and the national USA Cycling office in Colorado Springs, Colo. They are responsible for maintaining contact with and helping clubs, riders and race promoters.

"We are pleased to have added these new coordinators to our staff," saidWarren Conrad, USA Cycling membership director. "They will be veryimportant to maintaining a strong relationship with our membership atthe local grass-roots level."

Luke Hamasaki, the coordinator for the Western Region (California and Nevada), has been involved with cycling for almost 13 years as a rider, USCF official and district representative. She has been the USCF regional administrator for some portion of California for more than nine years and became the interim administrator for northern California and Nevada last year.

Though the majority of her experience is with road cycling, Luke Hamasaki said she looks forward to becoming more involved in track cycling and mountain biking.

"I'm really looking forward to it because it will be a change and it will open doors to a new sport," said Luke Hamasaki, who lives in San Diego.

Lisiecki, of Spokane, Wash., who will coordinate the Northwest Region (Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington), has been very involved in both road and mountain biking. Lisiecki has been the operation director for Round & Round Productions since 1995 and served as a USCF district representative from 1987-1998. He has served as an event director for major road and mountain biking events.

Miller of Bethlehem, Pa., will coordinate the Mid-Atlantic Region (Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and West Virginia). Miller has served as a USCF district representative since 1991 and is an official for road, track and mountain bike. She has held clinics for both officials and organizers and has seen membership increase in her district during her tenure.
